Games coming out in November 2023

I put out reviews this month! And didn’t put out other stuff I wanted to! Yay! Currently playing Ghostrunner 2 and Hardhat Wombat, not sure if I’ll fully review either yet, but they’re good.

So here I’m highlighting: 20 multiplats, 3 Switch games and 1 PC game. As far as anything I’m actually buying… There’s 2 I’m getting for sure, and, like, 1 or 2 maybes. No much there. Lots of interesting stuff that I just happen to not care about.

Let’s go I guess!

Disclaimer: I only list games that I think are worth mentioning. This includes games I’m personally interested in, games that will likely be popular, highly advertised games, some more niche stuff I may notice, and such. Not just games I care about myself, I highlight as much as I think makes sense. And of course, I can’t see the future, so I may be missing games and I may be listing games that may get delayed.

MULTIPLATFORM RELEASES

Alien Hominid HD 11/01 (Switch, PC, Xbone, Xbox X/S)
Alien Hominid HD
Alien Hominid was something of a big deal originally. It started out as a pretty good flash game on Newgrounds in the early 2000s , and it went to become a big hit as a console game a few years later. This already had an HD release on 360, so I assume this is a port of that. If you haven’t played this, it’s not bad at all. Something of a Contra-like run n’ gun with wacky animations. Somewhat worth checking out if you never played it.

Alien Hominid Invasion 11/01 (Switch, PC, Xbone, Xbox X/S)
Alien Hominid Invasion
And this is a new sequel to Alien Hominid. It has multiplayer though it’s not required. Seems to have lots of gameplay similarities to the original, but it replaces the normal level-based progression with grid maps that have small arenas with objectives to fulfill. Doesn’t look too bad. Might actually be kinda fun to play multiplayer.

Star Ocean: The Second Story R 11/02 (Switch, PC, PS4, PS5)
Star Ocean: The Second Story R
Star Ocean 2 was a pretty cool PS1 RPG that I played a bit of back then. I don’t think I finished it (I didn’t have a PS1 so my PS1 experience is pretty limited), but it had a cool battle system. This remake has kinda weird graphics with the 2D sprites (with weirdly bright outlines) going around semi-realistic 3D environments, but it doesn’t look bad. This will be pretty fun, check it out if you never played it before.

RoboCop: Rogue City 11/02 (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S)

I played the demo for this. While it does mimic the style of the classic Robocop movies decently as far as visuals and characters, I found the gameplay to be… a bit bland. Like yeah it’s violent and gory and shit, but… it’s missing something. The action just doesn’t feel super solid. The demo did end before showing some of the elements (I think you can mod the main gun), but I dunno. It’s not terrible, but also not great, based on what I played.

The Smurfs 2: The Prisoner of the Green Stone 11/02 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
The Smurfs 2: The Prisoner of the Green Stone
So for whatever reason that recent Smurfs game is getting a sequel. Not that it looked completely bad or anything, but I’m surprised it did well enough to warrant one. Doesn’t look much more interesting than the last one.

The Talos Principle II 11/02 (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S)
The Talos Principle II
The Talos Principle was a really cool first-person puzzle game in the gameplay style of Portal, with some interesting elements. I never played it, but saw some parts of playthroughs and it looked good. This looks really good too. Not much else to say here since my familiarity with the original is minimal, but yeah, check it out.

Nickelodeon All Star Brawl 2 11/07 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Nickelodeon All Star Brawl 2
The first Nick Brawl was actually really solid. It unfortunately didn’t do super well, and the people that were pushing it pre-release stopped talking about it the minute it came out (because obviously competitive Smash losers will only care about Smash). But it was substantially better designed than that pure piece of garbage Multiversus (I hope it gets cancelled before the full release, the game’s awful).

This sequel seems fine, they added a few cool characters, a few interesting gameplay elements… And they did the impardonnable fighting game sequel sin of cutting way too many characters, including CatDog who was one of my mains in the first one. I won’t be getting this because I try to avoid fighting games nowadays, but yeah, should be good like the first one.

Really the fact that they cut 11 fucking characters is really dumb. They cut really cool ones too. Also still no Timmy, shame.

Risk of Rain Returns 11/08 (Switch, PC)
Risk of Rain Returns
I have no idea why this exists. It’s a… remaster? Remake? Of the first Risk of Rain, on PC and Switch. The first Risk of Rain is already on PC, and Switch. This is fucking dumb. Don’t buy this garbage, buy the original.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name 11/09 (PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name
Kson is in this! Which is pretty fucking based.

And that’s all I really know about this. Seems like fairly standard Like a Dragon/Yakuza fare otherwise, with this taking place after 6 and before 7. It’ll probably be super good as per usual for the series. Not sure I’ll get it, since I also skipped Isshin. I am mostly hyped to get Infinite Wealth.

Dungeons 4 11/09 (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Dungeons 4
This is the fourth Dungeons game, you should know if you’re hyped for them at this point. They’re games heavily inspired by Dungeon Keeper, a classic PC series that was pretty cool, where you build bases of monsters to fight the heroes. The one game I played in this series was pretty decent, it expanded some of the gameplay ideas from Dungeon Keeper.

Berzerk: Recharged 11/09 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Berzerk: Recharged
Berzerk is a classic Atari arcade/console game. It looks like it takes a very similar gameplay style, but with way more shit happening on screen and stuff. TBH I’d rather play the Atari 2600 version.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III 11/10 (PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
how do people still buy this awful series? It's been shit for years
Shitballs. That is all, I have no idea why people keep buying this shitty series that has never been good.

Air Twister 11/10 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Air Twister
This was not something I thought I’d highlight, but it’s actually interesting. Namely, this is a Space Harrier-style shooter, made by Yu Suzuki, who made the original Space Harrier (and a shitload of other amazing Sega classics like Hang-On and Afterburner and Outrun and Virtua Fighter). This actually looks pretty solid.

Also this was previously on Apple Arcade, which is not a real platform, so this is an entirely new release.

UFO Robot Grendizer: The Feast of the Wolves 11/14 (PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
UFO Robot Grendizer: The Feast of the Wolves
Grendizer is a super classic anime series, being part of the larger Mazinger series, by literal genius mangaka Go Nagai. I believe it counts as a “Super Robot” mecha show. This game looks… okay? It has top-down bullet-hell levels, Star Fox/Afterburner-ish levels, and third-person action game ALA Devil May Cry (though clearly not at that level of gameplay prowess). It does look a bit bland and generic visually, but it has some cool character and enemy designs here and there, and overall seems kinda okay.

May be worth checking out on the cheap.

Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion 11/14 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion
The third of the N64 Turok games also getting a modern remaster. I always knew Turok as pretty cool games, even though I haven’t actually played any of them until a long time after they came out (I have 2 on N64). They had cool-looking graphics and weapons, I just never ended up getting any of them back in the day. They’re pretty cool, oldschool-style FPS that I think are still worth playing. Also I like that the keep the N64 style graphics and effect and shit, really just making it higher res.

Flashback 2 11/16 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Flashback 2
It only took 31 years, but finally Flashback got a sequel. It seems to be kinda similar to the original in some of its gameplay aspects, with more 3D movement to it and more action-y stuff. But it does look cool.

Persona 5 Tactica 11/17 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Persona 5 Tactica
It’s another Persona 5 spin-off! Weirdly enough, this looks like it plays very similarly to the Mario + Rabbids games, with a few different elements like team-up attacks based on positioning. Actually looks pretty interesting, I’m probably grabbing it. One of the few games I’m actually getting this month.

Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections 11/17 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections
This series is just getting… more games I guess. These were okay back on the PS3. This just has a shitload more characters than the one I played back then (with a vague “over 130 characters” count on the official site), though the gameplay seems to not have changed much. So it’s probably still okay.

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising 11/30 (PC, PS4, PS5)
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
It’s Granblue Fantasy Versus, with I think all the base and DLC characters from the previous game, and a whole FOUR new characters… This feels like it should just be DLC, pretty much. But I guess this is a nice way to get into it.

Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! 2 11/30 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! 2
A THIRD Microids game this month somehow! Alongside Smurfs and Grendizer. This company releases so much shit and I have no idea how any of it sells except for Garfield Kart (and that’s just because it’s a meme). Anyways, this is a kinda slow-looking beat ’em up where you play as Obelix and Asterisk. It looks pretty cool graphically. Doesn’t seem that interesting to play.

SWITCH RELEASES

WarioWare: Move It! 11/03

I thought there was already a game with this name, but I just forgot the Wii one was called Smooth Moves. It sucked, btw, and this looks like the same shit.

Hogwarts Legacy 11/14
Hogwarts Legacy

Oh hey it’s finally coming out to Switch. Get ready for more idiots being mad at this game for no reason again.

I’m still not convinced this is worth getting, I might buy it when it’s 5$ on PC.

Super Mario RPG 11/17
Super Mario RPG

I will say I like that, for the cover, they kept the style of the japanese box art. Very cool.

That said, this is a remake of the original, which looks like it has extra gameplay ideas that hopefully won’t make it too easy (considering the original is already easy). It has amazing graphics and THEY FUCKING RENAMED YARIDOVICH HOW THE FUCK DARE THEY. I will play this.

PC RELEASE

Cuisineer 11/09
Cuisineer

Completely random game highlight let’s go! This is a game where you manage a small fantasy restaurant, but in-between opening the restaurant and making food/serving customers, you go out into dungeons to fight enemies and stuff to gather ingredients.  Gives me some Recettear vibes. Actually seems interesting and not something anyone will talk about… so here I am!
