Games coming out in February 2025

I’m completely forgetting to even think about the blog recently… Well I’m gonna keep up the releases posts and try to do an update-style post at some point. I haven’t even been playing anything new (until yesterday), I’m just stuck in the cycle of Binding of Isaac and Balatro. I’m late on this one and didn’t prepare this post at all before writing it, so… yeah.

Anyways, for February 2025 I am highlighting: 8 multiplats and 1 PC game. Not a lot of games that I found worthy of being highlighted this time. There’s really just one must-get in those, though there’s a few other interesting releases.

Anyways, let’s go!

Disclaimer: I only list games that I think are worth mentioning. This includes games I’m personally interested in, games that will likely be popular, highly advertised games, some more niche stuff I may notice and such. This is not just games I care about myself, I highlight as much as I think makes sense. Of course, I can’t see the future, so I may be missing games and I may be listing games that may get delayed.

MULTIPLATFORM RELEASES

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 02/04 (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
I’ve heard nothing but good things about the first one. I tried playing it but the intro part of it was too long to me so I kinda gave up. But anyways, there’s a sequel. I hope it’s as good as I hear the first one is. The devs/community managers seem to be having a fit about people being disappointed with some aspects of it, I’m not paying attention because it sounds stupid on all sides. I’m putting this on the “wait and see” list.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII 02/11 (PC, Switch, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Sid Meier's Civilization VII
Civ has not gotten better after 4. I’m not expecting too much out of this one. I haven’t even played Civ 6 yet, so I’m really in no hurry with this one.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak 2 02/14 (Switch, PC, PS4, PS5)
The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak 2
*insert the same song and dance about me not wanting to get into Trails because there’s so many and I don’t want to figure out where to start from*

Avowed 02/18 (PC, Xbox X/S)
Avowed
Avowed is a game to looks like it could be pretty interesting gameplay-wise, and the environments look pretty nice. All characters shown in advertisement look kinda awful though which is a bit weird. I’m putting this on the wait and see list alongside KCD2.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii 02/21 (PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
This is Yakuza taking all pretenses of seriousness and throwing them out of the window. Yeah it always had wacky shit, but this just looks full-on goofy. Infinite Wealth didn’t click with me as much as 7 did so I never finished that, I’m not sure about this one.

Ninja Five-O 02/25 (Switch, PC, PS4, PS5)
Ninja Five-O
I remember a lot of people in the GBA days mentioning this as one of the really good games on GBA, but I never played it. It looks pretty cool, though it also looks like they changed nothing from the original, it seems to just be running the rom on an emulator. Might be better that way, but it’s also too expensive.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection 02/27 (Switch, PC)
 Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection
This is a large collection of 14 old Yu-Gi-Oh games from the Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance. It has a few “goofier” games like the capsule monster one and Destiny Board Traveler, but most of them are some form of the card game. Some of the games are japanese-only but they do line up with some of the english ones I think. Also one of the GBA games is playable online. Honestly kind of a random release.

You know, I just found out that the Blue Eyes White Dragon card I have is worth like 200$ because it’s the one from the Kaiba starter deck from back when the cards originally came out here.

Monster Hunter Wilds 02/28 (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S)

The first truly big release of the year. With Rise being the first and only MH game I’ve properly played (I previously played one of the PSP ones but it didn’t click with me at the time), I’m excited to get into a whole new one. I played the beta for this and enjoyed the “format” of it, and the ability to equip 2 weapons. I look forward to playing more of it and figuring out how all the stuff works. This should be some really good shit.

PC RELEASE

Rift of the NecroDancer 02/05

Rift of the NecroDancer
This is a spin-off of Crypt of the NecroDancer. Rather than being a rhythm-based dungeon-crawler like Crypt of the NecroDancer or Cadence of Hyrule, this is a… standard rhythm game with 3 buttons to press in rhythm. However the notes are monsters that all have different effects when you hit them, sometimes running away from the key presses or moving to different buttons or needing to be double-tapped and such. It looks pretty fun, I’m putting this on the maybe list.
