Oh hi. I haven’t posted anything in the last month, oops. Well, I guess I didn’t have much to post about. I’m playing Armored Core 6 right now, just bought Sea of Stars, still haven’t reviewed Siralim Ultimate… I’ve been playing lots of mahjong and stuff, so yeah, not lots of writing to do… But I at least want to make sure I continue doing something here, and this is easy.
September has some stuff. I’m gonna be highlighting: 16 multiplats, 2 Switch games, 2 PC games and a PS5 port. There’s a few big titles, and there’s a few I’m interested in too. Maybe I’ll try to review some of them, who knows.
Disclaimer: I only list games that I think are worth mentioning. This includes games I’m personally interested in, games that will likely be popular, highly advertised games, some more niche stuff I may notice, and such. Not just games I care about myself, I highlight as much as I think makes sense. And of course, I can’t see the future, so I may be missing games and I may be listing games that may get delayed.
MULTIPLATFORM GAMES
Rune Factory 3 Special 09/05 (Switch, PC)
I still have yet to play a Rune Factory game. I really should. I dunno where to start from. But anyways, this is the third game and it’s getting a bunch of post-game content (one thing per bachelorette) and a Hell difficulty. Cool?
Starfield 09/06 (PC, Xbox X/S)
It’s a Bethesda game. The fact that people have expectations is wild considering Bethesda’s main studios have not made anything even remotely playable since Fallout 3 (they didn’t make New Vegas so I don’t credit them for it). I’ll still look into it, and grab it when it’s 10$ next year or whatever if it’s not shit like I assume.
Nothing I’ve seen of this game has been particularly impressive… or hype-worthy. It looks like it wants to do too much and will likely fail to do any of them well.
MythForce 09/12 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
This is a first-person roguelite… thing. The visuals have a bit of an 80s cartoon kinda look that is pretty cool, and the gameplay looks slow and boring based on the few gameplay videos I can find, and also it’s co-op. Yeah, I dunno about this one. It seems cool but
Eternights 09/21 (PC, PS4, PS5)
This was shown in a Sony presentation thing. It’s some anime-style action RPG that actually looks kinda cool. It shows the current (in-game) day on the top-right of the screen at all times it seems even when it’s not relevant, not sure why. I’ll look into it.
Super Bomberman R 2 09/13 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Ssuper Bomberman R was a Switch near-launch title that was pretty okay. It was a classic-style Bomberman, it worked. Nothing special, but fine. It ended up coming to other platforms, and now the sequel is just on everything from the start as third-party games should be Squeenix. This sequel has some cool versus modes and a pretty interesting-sounding story mode. I kinda wish they’d look at a Bomberman 64-style game again though.
Thunder Ray 09/14 (Switch, PC, Playstation (console not specified), Xbox (console not specified))
This looks really cool. It’s like Punch-Out, except you’re fighting aliens. Some have compared it to Mike Tyson’s Intergalactic Power Punch (sadly renamed to Power Punch 2 before release) because of the aliens, but, looking at the actual gameplay, this is very much more like Punch-Out. It has sleek visuals, cool character designs, crazy-ass enemies, crazy good animation… I fucking love what I’m seeing. I am pretty sure I will buy this.
The Crew Motorfest 09/14 (PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
The Crew looks lame. But hey if you like this series, there’s a new one. Ubisoft is cringe though so I recommend not buying anything from them until they make a new Rayman (and anything they do outside of Rayman is pretty much shit anyways).
Inspector Gadget: Mad Time Party 09/14 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
I don’t think 2 is a pattern, but why did both garfield and this get a party game that no one wanted and no one would buy? What’s next, an Inhumanoids party game? If you’re gonna do something with an old franchise, do something not dumb… please?
Mortal Kombat 1 09/19 (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S, Switch)
I don’t know why it’s Mortal Kombat 1 when it includes characters from The Boys and Invincible. Anyways, this game has a stupid title (Mortal Kombat 1 is Mortal Kombat 1, give this another title), and I’m not impressed by anything I’ve seen… but also I’ve been unimpressed by MK after UMK3 anyways, so eh.
And wtf did they do to my boy Shao Kahn?
Lies of P 09/19 (PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
This is a game. It’s clearly very Souls-inspired. If you showed me gameplay of this without context and told me it was Bloodborne 2, I’d almost believe you. It does look way easier though, blocking seems way overpowered. I dunno, this looks fine, I feel it will get lost in the mix.
The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails 09/19 (Switch, PC, PS4)
It’s one of them Trails games. Cool beans.
Payday 3 09/21 (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Payday 2 was pretty popular, looked kinda fun to play with friends. This looks like much of the same, maybe with a bit crazier stuff. I won’t play it ever.
Defeat Monsters And Gain Strong Weapons And Armor. You May Be Defeated, But Don’t Give Up. Become Stronger. I Believe There Will Be A Day When The Heroes Defeat The Devil King 09/21 (Switch, PC, PS5)
AKA Mon-Yu if you want a lame title. This is one of them grid-based first-person RPGs like Etrian Odyssey, with a custom team and stuff and the best title of any game ever. It looks pretty good, I like this shit.
Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai 09/28 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
Action RPG that seems to follow the plot of Dai no Daibouken. I’m generally up for more Dragon Quest, I’m not sure about this one yet. Specifically this covers up to episode 41 of the new-ish anime (kinda random). Looks okay, it’s on the maybe list.
Disney Speedstorm 09/28 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, PS5, Xbox X/S)
So this is a weird scam Disney were running where you have to pay for the early access, but the full game is free-to-play. I assume the free-to-play is garbage nickel-and-diming of young kids because that’s still legal, and non-paying people will have to grind an unreasonable amount for any progression. And I dunno, doesn’t look that good, seems pretty average as far as kart racers go.
EA Sports FC 24 09/29 (Switch, PC, PS4, Xbone, Xbox X/S)
I guess I missed the news that EA don’t have the FIFA license anymore. Anyways, EA sucks don’t buy their games kthx.
SWITCH RELEASES
Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster 09/14
I actually never played Baten Kaitos. Pretty cool that the series is coming back, even if it’s as a stupid annoying remaster. Why not just make sequels, these endless remasters are dumb (I will rant about this when I put Super Mario RPG later)… I’ll still probably end up getting this one, since I’ve always wanted to play this series. Not sure which of the two I’ll play when I do buy it, I’m in no hurry.
Mugen Souls Z 09/14
I always forget that Mugen Souls had a sequel. Well this is coming to Switch. Yay?
PC RELEASES
Megaman X Dive Offline 09/01
There was a crappy gacha Megaman X game. The gacha is shutting down (or already shut down I dunno) and it is now being released as a standalone 30$ game for some reason. I’m not sure how that’s gonna work considering the idea of gacha is to be repeating the same shitty content over and over to barely progress. I might get that when it drops to below 10$ just to see how they made that into a standalone thing.
I’d like RiCO to star in her own game, she’s cool.
(EARLY ACCESS) Witchfire 09/20
I pretty much don’t talk about early access on here, but Witchfire looks fucking cool and I’ve been waiting for it for a long time. I might actually get it in early access (something I never do), even just for a short demo-like play of it.
PS5 RELEASE
Baldur’s Gate III 09/06
It’s apparently really good, and coming to another platform (and will apparently come to Xbox later too). This is the kind of game you should be playing on PC.
