Video Games coming out in September 2024

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

August had a bunch of stuff, for me at least. Some stuff that was even good! I’ll talk about those in the august gaming update, but it was pretty nice for me.

For September 2024 I am highlighting: 19 multiplats, 1 Switch game, 5 PC games and… hey look a PS5 game too! It’s not a bad month overall, there’s 8 of these I’m probably buying at/around launch (depending on what I’m playing), and like 5 maybes. That’s a lot. Very few of these are big massive games, but I think they’re pretty cool.

Let’s go!

Disclaimer: I only list games that I think are worth mentioning. This includes games I’m personally interested in, games that will likely be popular, highly advertised games, some more niche stuff I may notice and such. This is not just games I care about myself, I highlight as much as I think makes sense. Of course, I can’t see the future, so I may be missing games and I may be listing games that may get delayed.

Garbage Pail Kids: Mad Mike and the Quest for Stale Gum NES GAME review

GARBAGE PAIL KIDS: MAD MIKE AND THE QUEST FOR STALE GUM

GARBAGE PAIL KIDS: MAD MIKE AND THE QUEST FOR STALE GUM

I find this a weird nostalgia bait thing. Like… Kids cared a little bit about this back in the 80s, and it even got a really crap movie because of the success of the cards, but I dunno if all that many people really look back that fondly on Garbage Pail Kids, beyond it being a product of its time. However, I’m kinda into this concept of making new games for old systems, especially now if you make sure to, you know, make them available on modern platforms too. One of the best examples of this is Battle Kid, a game that was stuck on NES for a bit but is now available on Xbox and hopefully will come to more platforms.

So I figured I’d grab this on a sensible system so I got the PC version. It will come on an NES cartridge later if you like spending like 7 times more than the game costs to get a collectible version of it… Yeah, not a fan of that price point.

So let’s see if this is a good NES game or whatever!

Blaster Master Zero 3 review

Blaster Master Zero 3

Blaster Master Zero 3

So this was always a kinda weird series. The first game was mostly a retelling of the original NES game, with some extra stuff (specifically more characters). 2 had its own original story, where Jason, Eve and Fred the frog go to space to fight the mutant problem, joining up with more tank pilots. Generally I found both games to be quite good. So I was excited for the third one.

So because NEO TWEWY was so long it took me a while to finally get started with this game. And then it was over in what felt like an instant.

So let’s go and see if it’s as good as the last two!

Famicom Detective Club review

Famicom Detective Club

Famicom Detective Club

This showed up at a recent Nintendo Direct, and my hype was through the roof. This is a series that came out on the Famicom (japanese version of the NES), through the Disc System (each game had 2 discs). It’s a point-and-click adventure game series that never got officially translated, but I know it was a big deal originally, serving partly as an inspiration to the Ace Attorney series.

I’m combining both games in one post, so it might be a kinda long post considering the type of game it is. I will be as spoiler-free as I can though, because for this kind of game it’s largely about the story, so I don’t want people to know the whole plot just from reading my review.

Let’s go and see what the west has been missing since the 80s!
