Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart has a bad PC port at the moment – A mini-review

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

At one point, the PS5 had 2 games that were nowhere else, and that were basically the only real reasons to own a PS5, since a PS4 or PC got you basically everything it got. Well, this changed earlier this year when Returnal had a solid PC port, and that changed further last week when Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart also got a PC port. Now the PS5 only has… FFXVI, which will come out to PC later (it was announced for PC first) and Spider-Man 2 (coming later this year), which will come out to PC later (as evidenced by the previous games coming to PC later). So basically the PS5 has nothing.

I was pretty happy to see this get a PC port, because I didn’t want to get a PS5 just to play this one game. And I certainly have things to say about this game… So yeah let’s do that.

Let’s go!

Pikmin 4 mini-review

Pikmin 4

Pikmin 4

Pikmin is one of the really interesting Nintendo series that, even though it doesn’t get THAT much love, it still gets some. It’s not like StarTropics, you know. Nintendo clearly still cares about Pikmin. And, after years of having told us Pikmin 4 was coming soon, it came out. It looked really interesting in the trailers.

So let’s see if it’s good! I think I’ll keep this simple.

Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg mini-review

Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg

Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg

So this was a bit of a surprise announcement. The Atelier series is pretty popular nowadays but that wasn’t always the case. In fact the first 5 games in the series never made it outside of Japan (more if you want to count side games). Atelier Marie is the first game in the series and it took until now to finally get a western release.

So I grabbed it, to see where the series started. Let’s see if it’s good!

I’m tired of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – Also a rant

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

I’ve been playing this. I’m 19 hours into it, and I’m kinda feeling like not playing any more of it.

So I figured I wanted to talk about it a little bit because there’s some fuck going on in this one.

So let’s just go!

Games coming out in July 2023

Pikmin 4

Had a few more posts this month because of the not-E3 stuff. I also planned on mini-reviews for Bat Boy and Boltgun but I’m not too sure about even doing that. They’re okay games but I feel like not much to talk about that you can’t get from watching the trailers. Also I’m playing the new Star Wars Jedi thing, I’ll probably be reviewing that, if only to complain about the PC version.

July 2023… Has a couple things. Only a few are actually big, but there’s stuff here that will be good. Here I’m highlighting: 12 multiplatform games, 3 Switch games and 2 PC games. I might actually be buying some of these. I’d say 2 of them are “for sure at launch”, and I’d say 3 or 4 maybes. Not a bad month.

Let’s go!

Disclaimer: I only list games that I think are worth mentioning. This includes games I’m personally interested in, games that will likely be popular, highly advertised games, some more niche stuff I may notice, and such. Not just games I care about myself, I highlight as much as I think makes sense. And of course, I can’t see the future, so I may be missing games and I may be listing games that may get delayed.

Nintendo Direct June 2023 reaction

DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS: The Dark Prince

Nintendo Direct June 2023
Here comes Nintendo to once again save the gaming industry from a tremendously shitty Not-E3 here in 2023. It’s actually crazy how subpar Not-E3 2023 has been, but here comes Nintendo flying in with what should be a great show because… I dunno, no one else was good, someone has to be.

I did actually watch this before writing any of this, because of reasons, and I even missed it live because of the same reasons, but let’s actually go through the show now. I do like going by Highlights and such, so I’m doing this here again. Highlights at different levels talking about my favorite parts of the show, down to the ones I liked least.

Let’s-a go!

Xbox Games Showcase 2023 reaction

Xbox Games Showcase 2023

Xbox Games Showcase 2023

Xbox had a presentation. It has things… So let’s talk about it! Sony’s may have sucked, but maybe Microsoft has the goods. I watched Summer Game Fest in part which was pretty lame (I mostly just skipped through it to see if any interesting announcements happened… they didn’t with a BIG maybe on Sonic), and the other presentations were so bad I didn’t even skip through them. This is why there’s no E3, because no one has shit to announce anyways, apparently. Can’t wait for Nintendo to also announce nothing. This is also why I didn’t post about anything else, but I kinda have to make an exception for the big 3, at minimum.

So let’s see if Xbox has anything at all to show. This time, I’m starting with the lowlights and slowly building up to what is certainly a ton of highlights… right? Let’s go! Oh and I guess I’ll mention Starfield in its own section since it goes it’s own section of the showcase, so it’s in none of the lowlight-highlight sections.

Let’s go?

Games coming out in June 2023

Well being quiet on the blog is nice. I’m not playing as many games recently, though I did have some obsession with TotK so there’s that. And I’m playing a couple other things, some I might even review.

So June 2023… Weirdly empty month. But hey there’s a game on PS5 that other platforms will get later, 9 multiplats of dubious quality and a Switch game that looks pretty okay… Yeah it’s a pretty quiet month, I have a maybe or two and that’s it.

Note: There is a copious amount of “man this series used to be great but it’s lame now” in this post. I’m old leave me alone!

Let’s go!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom mini-review

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

I haven’t reviewed anything in a bit, so let’s do it for the biggest game of the year! I actually wanted to write a mini-review for Trinity Trigger when I finished that, but I had so little to say about it, it just wasn’t worth it. Game’s pretty underwhelming.

So anyways, we’ve got the sequel to Breath of the Wild now. I watched the first 2 trailers for this, then nothing else until launch, so I had no idea what to expect beyond “this looks a lot like BotW but it has new powers”.

So now I finished it and I’m gonna do a quick review! Let’s go I guess! This will be a simpler review.

Playstation Showcase 2023 reaction or something

playstation showcase 2023

playstation showcase 2023

It is E3 season! But with no E3! So there are presentations that will probably happen. We just got the Playstation Showcase which was… a thing… And there’s an Xbox one that will happen soon-ish, so I’ll comment on that one too, and we’ll see if anything else noteworthy happens, may it be some Nintendo thing (which there should be… something? Because Nintendo has nothing this year past Pikmin 4) or other summer game presentation thingies.

So usually when I do this I just react to everything as it happens and then post those live reactions, I’ll just post the highlights, lowlights, and a few “eh?” things, then rant about it a bit.

And first up is Sony being lame, so let’s go!
